Worldwide the alarm bells are ringing. Extreme droughts, dying rivers, depleting ground water, we are in the middle of a worldwide water crisis. By 2025, two-thirds of the world population will experience water scarcity. And as it looks right now, the situation is only getting worse. It seems there are many causes for this to happen, but in truth there is only one: our behavior. We simply take too much and waste too much. Not being aware of what is does to nature and ultimately to ourselves. And this is the result.
It is so part of our daily routine, that we don’t notice a lot of water is wasted while flushing the toilet. For one flush we need maximum 6 liters of water….while most flush tanks use 10 liters of water or even more. That made us think. If you can save 4 liters of water per flush, and you fluh around 5 times a day, imagine how much precious water you can save. For a single person that would be over 7.000 liters a year!
For us, it was clear that we couldn’t just sit and do nothing. That is when we joined hands with our whole community in South India and started reducing the water level of the flush tanks. All we had to do is to turn a screw in the mechanism. So simple. And it took only a few seconds per tank. In a short while 1.700 flush tanks were adjusted. The result, we are now saving around 11.000 liters a day…3,9 million liters of water a year. -video
We got so inspired by what happened in our community, that now we would love to join hands with our brothers and sisters worldwide. With you! For this reason we are organizing The Flush Challenge. Our mission is to save 10 million liters of water a day.
The best you can do is to reduce the water level of your flush tank and upload your water saving details on our homepage. Every liter counts and makes a difference….a big difference. If you feel like doing more, it would be great if you can share our messages via social media and ask your family and friends to join. Public toilets can be big water savers, so by adjusting the flush tanks in offices, schools and other public spaces you can have a great impact. And last, but not least: we would like to invite everyone to create their own “How to reduce the flush tank”-video. Worldwide there a many different systems, customs and languages. By sharing these videos, with us and on your own channels, it’s possible to inspire a lot of people to make a difference for Mother Nature and for themselves. Let’s joins hands and do something beautiful!
